What this service is
A trained Healkin nurse inserts a urinary (Foley) catheter at home using sterile technique, for patients who need continuous bladder drainage.
Who needs this
People advised by a doctor to have a urinary catheter, for example due to urinary retention, post-surgical needs, or limited mobility. Suitability and any patient-gender restrictions are confirmed at booking. Always based on medical advice.
What to expect during the visit
The nurse maintains sterile conditions throughout, inserts and secures the catheter, confirms it is draining properly, and explains day-to-day care of the catheter and drainage bag. Mild discomfort during insertion is normal.
