What this service is
A trained Healkin nurse inserts a nasogastric (Ryle's) tube at home using correct technique, for feeding or drainage as advised by a doctor.
Who needs this
People advised by a doctor to have an NG tube placed, for feeding, medication or stomach drainage when normal eating isn't possible. Always based on medical advice.
What to expect during the visit
The nurse measures and passes the tube gently, confirms correct placement before use, and secures it. There may be brief discomfort or gagging during insertion. The nurse then explains basic care and what to watch for.
