People prescribed IV fluids or IV medication by a doctor, for hydration, medication, or supportive care, for a session of up to 2 hours. Always based on your doctor's prescription.
What to expect during the visit
The nurse confirms the prescription, places the IV line using sterile technique, runs the drip at the correct rate, and monitors you during the session. Mild discomfort at the cannula site is normal. The site is cared for at the end.
